My Approach:
I'm Sarah - a psychotherapist, EMDR practitioner and clinical supervisor based in Greater Manchester. I consider the work I do to be a great privilege, and I strive to be the very best I can be for the people I support.
I have specialist experience in working with neurodiversity, attachment and complex trauma. My work is grounded in authenticity, compassion and curiosity. I recognise how identity, intersectionality, privilege and power can influence the way people experience themselves, their relationships and the world around them.
I work in a way that is inclusive of neurodivergent people and the LGBTQIA+ community. I welcome people from all backgrounds, identities and relationship styles, including those in polyamorous, open and kink-aware relationships, as well as sex workers.
I specialise in working with neurodivergence, supporting both those who are formally diagnosed and those who feel they may be. Neurodivergent ways of thinking, sensing and being aren’t always accommodated in the world around us, which can affect a person’s sense of self, perceived abilities, and the ways they connect with others. I have a deep professional and personal understanding of this and I care sincerely about creating a compassionate space where you can feel fully understood and accepted as you are.
Whilst I have specialist experience in working with neurodiversity, I am also a trauma-informed EMDR therapist supporting people from all walks of life to make sense of themselves and their experiences. I work with people experiencing anxiety disorders, low self-esteem, anger management, relationship breakdowns, estrangement, childhood trauma, PTSD/CPTSD as well as those exploring questions around gender, sexuality and identity. I have a particular interest in relationships and attachment, and how our early experiences shape who we are and the ways we connect with others.
I work integratively, drawing on a variety of approaches that best suit you and your aims. I seek to look beyond surface level symptoms to explore historic patterns, experiences and insights to promote long-term healing from within. Understanding is a key part of creating change, alongside practical ways of making shifts and moving forward in the here and now. What you have to say matters to me. From our work together, you will gain greater self-awareness, self-confidence and self-acceptance.
